As a new mom, Keri struggled with feeling like she didn’t fit in with other moms that take their kids to mommy and me classes and bring Pinterest-worthy snacks to the daycare potluck. She has never been about that minivan life and struggled to embrace motherhood fully in those beginning years. What she realized was that it all came down to what she thought being a “good” mom meant. In this modern-day era where both partners are likely to be working, we have to redefine motherhood in our own terms.
Motherhood isn’t defined by the car you drive, the clothes you wear, or your ability to balance your various roles all on your own. We have to ask ourselves, “How do I want to define how being a good mom looks and feels for me and for my kids?” That might look like hiring help so that you can spend time being fully present with your kids while still being able to be the creative you want to be. So, what does being a good mom mean to you, and how are you redefining motherhood?
