Thinking Yourself Out of the Box

by | May 2, 2023

Hosted by Keri Ford

Do you tend to think of the worst possible outcome, thus talking yourself out of trying something new? If so, this episode is for you. Keri shares a strategy to utilize when thoughts start to spiral out of control and have you thinking of anything and everything that can go wrong. If you are a chronic overthinker, this will be a game changer for you, and it is probably not what you think.

If you find yourself thinking of worst-case scenarios, being constantly worried, and having a massive fear of failing, let yourself go there. That might sound counterintuitive and as if it would lead to a bigger problem, but actually the opposite is true. We spend so much energy fighting those negative and spiraling thoughts, that it actually takes less energy to just go there. What if that worst-case scenario came true? What could you do about it? Suddenly, you’re thinking about solutions and not struggles. You’re thinking about that no matter what goes wrong, you’ll be okay. And you’ll always think your way out of that box.

Maybe a big fear of yours has come true and you’re terrified it will happen again, so let’s hold space for that. You now have proof of your resiliency and chances are it won’t happen again because you know your way out of that box already. So if you resonate with the chronic overthinking, the looping thoughts, the worst-case scenarios, the constant worry, and the fear of failing, go ahead and go all the way to that worst-case scenario, so that you can think your way out of the box.
